Internal web establishment at the headquarters of the General Company for Ports of Iraq and its affiliated sections and constructing a light cable between Company headquarter and Information Technology Section The General Company for Ports of Iraq was contracted on 15/12/2019, and the work site was delivered to our company on 26/01/2020, with a period of four months to carry out the project. The first phase was constructing and wiring a 24-core light cable between the General Company for Ports of Iraq and Information Technology Section using state-of-the-art drilling and wiring equipment according to the universally applicable specifications. A data center was constructed at the Information Technology Section and was equipped with the latest German technology from Morrel. The place was fitted with raised floors, known as false floors, based on solid pillars and metal bearings. More than 700 Ethernet outlets and access points were wired and installed at all the Company sections, annexes, and rooms. The construction and wiring were carried out using plastic pipes and training cables. All civil works required for this phase were implemented, as well as installing 20 Switchcom Distribution 9U cabinets at the Company sections. Every cabinet contains a network switch (Switch 24G Morrel), an electrical power processing unit (Farber UPS), a cable patch switch (24 Port Patch Panel-G Morrel), and a light cable switch (ODF). A thermally insulated room equipped with electricity and cooling equipment was installed to ensure equipment safety and its operation under appropriate environmental conditions. Naturally, the room was equipped with suitable networking devices, and all light connections were installed using light cables splicing machines. In the final phase, our engineering and technical cadres configured and set all the software for all networking devices. They also spliced and connected all the light cables’ points according to the highest global standards, as well as tested web performance and discovered and fixed errors. The project was delivered to the General Company for Ports of Iraq with a 1-year guarantee for the used devices and a training course for the Company engineering and technical personnel at Morrel Academy located at Green Band’s headquarter. Only a few months had passed when a complementary project for the above-mentioned one was carried out. It consisted of setting and implementing a wireless connection between the Information Technology Section affiliated to the General Company for Ports of Iraq and the office of the Director-General according to the global standards and specifications. For the purpose of knowledge, all the networking, devices, cables, and cabinets used in this project are products of the German Company Morrel and we are the first to introduce them in Basrah.
